About the Author
R. E. Wood was born in Tacoma, Washington and raised in Queens, New York. The oldest of Robert and Margaret's four children, his interest in the twisted and macabre might seem to be in stark contrast to his strong, family-oriented upbringing, but his parents instilled in him the knowledge that one can be honest and hard-working while still maintaining a wicked imagination and sense of humor.
While in his twenties, a friend had challenged him to write a story scarier than "Jaws", prompting a young R. E. to begin dabbling in short-stories. This proved to be a welcome and satisfying diversion to the rigors of daily life, but after two decades of writing for an audience of one, he decided to focus his attention towards writing full-time, feeling that now was his time to shoot for his dream of being an author. Through hard-work and dedication, that dream is becoming a reality.
His first novel, Ritual of Death, was published in 2003 by Publish America, and set the stage for what was to come. Melding graphic depictions of violence with voodoo magic, R. E. combined both realistic and fantastic elements to create a truly uncomfortable environment for both his characters and his readers.
In 2007, R. E. managed to place twice in the 76th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition (Mainstream Fiction), coming in at #9 and #12. It was a wonderful accomplishment that truly spoke of his talent.
R. E.'s second novel, Glad Tithings, was published in 2008 by Wild Child Publishing. Adding elements of religion and science-fiction to this story of the paranormal, R. E. continued to evolve and develop his method of delivering chills. Four months later, Freya's Bower published Dead Twice and For All, an erotic short story. Again, R. E. showed that he could comfortably and successfully branch out into other genres. A mere four weeks later, No Tithings - the sequel to Glad Tithings - was released.
Currently, R. E. has several other novels in the works, all of which have been made possible through the support of his wife Jill, to whom he has been married since 1993. He has already come a long way on his journey, and will only continue to grow in ability and audience in the future.
